Star Trek this year was a resounding success. We initially had 22 teams book to attend, which meant two teams starting at each of our 11 bases (checkpoints). On the night we had a total of 19 teams attend from all across the district which is a brilliant turnout. One of the reasons for teams not attending was large outbreaks of swine flu in their areas but we were not going to let that stop us.
The weather was perfect on the night, the best for Star Trek I can remember in a long time. This year’s course was longer than in recent years but we thought it was time for a challenge. The total distance was a shade less than 12 miles, so to actually complete the course would have been a formidable task.

I am writing to thank you for a truly fabulous weekend at the Master at Armes Weekend, last Saturday and Sunday – we all had an absolute ball. The children were a joy to be with and behaved impeccably throughout the whole weekend. Its true to say that we were all completely shattered after the weekend, and it seems that most people rate it as the most exhausting event of the year – and that’s saying something!

On Saturday the 21st of March 8 keen football teams from various Scout groups across the Daventry District took part in the 2009 Daventry District Scout 5 A-Side Football Tournament at Danetre School. Fun was had by all despite a number of scout groups pulling out of the tournament at the last minute. The event was a great spectacle for scouting as every one who took part played with massive enthusiasm and commitment, proud in representing their scout group. After every team had played each other it eventually turned out to be a very successful day for Woodford Halse Scout group who won the event for the first time in their history. |
