Today, I was involved with Suntrek for the first time. 9 teams of Cubs took part in a 7km incident hike around Dodford doing various challenges including a First Aid challenge. We all waited nervously to see which team had won. As the cub packs were being read out the two teams Woodford Halse had entered were starting to get a bit excited as it got nearer the top. We were absolutely delighted to come 1st and 2nd and take the shield back to our group. I would like to take this opportunity to thank Gill and her team for all their hard work in organising this event and I look forward to defending our crown next year.
One of my cubs asked who Kevin Marshall was as he had seen his name on the shield. I replied by saying he was a very brave young man who loved Scouting and that this was an event dedicated to him.

5 teams took part in this year’s event, after 8 rounds of questions, and a few biscuits, long Buckby emerged as the winners. The questions were varied from geography and history to scouting. The best answer we were given to the question “Who is the chief scout” was Patrick, I’m sure the cubs look up to him, but I’m not sure he is quite in Bear Grylls, league yet.

The District event took place on Sat 21st Nov and was a very good scouting evening. On the Monday of the same week I only had my own Long Buckby team and a promise of a Byfield team (who's team details had travelled bizzarly to Vietman). But things took shape by mid week and on the day we had 10 District packs represented. In fact such was the pace of late entries and changes I was wondering if some events would actually be pushed into requiring 4 heats. In the end all individual events were 3 heats and there were even heats in the relays.
