I am pleased to announce that David Curtis has been appointed Group Scout Leader at Woodford Halse and I am sure David will take this role on with enthuseasm and care. David has now stood down from ADC Group Support as well as Nights Away Adviser Administration, therefore Lynda Lewcock will be taking over Nights Away Adviser and Permits and Administration and all NAN forms should keep coming forward to myself as normal. I have asked David to return any nan forms he may receive back to sender with instructions to forward to me. David will be staying on District Communications and website. I am also pleased to announce that Foggy (John Driver), as well as being the DESC, will be the District Activity Permit Adviser and work closely with the LTM Linda Lewcock. Foggy has a good underpinning knowledge and practical experience in this area and I would encourage you all to use his skills and knowledge. Pete Malpas (Daventry District DC)

The District Executive is continually challenged with balancing the books and ensuring that we all make a fair contribution to the costs of running the District, supporting District events, and providing and maintaining District facilities. Whilst to date there has been no charge for the use of Welton Site the District Executive consider it is now appropriate for the users to contribute to the cost and not to fund the site out of District monies. In making this decision the District Executive have considered the following: - We now have to pay the Askews £200 rent per year - To maintain and improve the site we have purchased significant capital equipment which needs to be insured at cost of £100 per year. - Consumables to maintain the site are £200 per year - The cost to fund this solely from District Funds is equivalent to 60p on capitation - The site is clearly used considerably more by groups local to the site with many groups not using it at all
Forthwith charges will be: | Use | In District | Out of District | | Evening/day | 50p/pp | £1/pp | | Overnight | £1/pp | £2/pp |
Groups in the District can purchase a season ticket for £50. Any bookings accepted to date will not be charged. YIS Pete Malpas District Commissioner |
