Daventry Scouts

It will be held on Friday 28^th Sept to Sunday 30^th September 2012.  The venue will be Yr Hen Felin, Cynwyd in North Wales.  The house is owned and run by Northampton District and I know that some groups will be familiar with the venue having taken Explorers and Scouts there for summer camps.  It’s about 130 miles/3 hours drive from Daventry.

The final cost will depend on numbers going but it is likely to be no more than £30 to cover 2 nights bed and breakfast. The accommodation is a bunkhouse with 5 bedrooms and can sleep up to 30 people.  If you would prefer to camp, this will also be possible on the small camping area behind the house.

The aim of these weekends – this will be our fifth annual event – is to enjoy the hills and meet up with other leaders/helpers/supporters in an informal setting.  You must be over 18 to take part but, apart from this, all ages and abilities are very welcome.

There will be lots of walking options to suit all tastes. For those that want to experience mountain walking, the Berwyn mountains rise from the back of the house.  For the walker who wants something less strenuous, there are several good way-marked routes nearby including one that runs along the Dee Valley into Llangollen.  We will sort out who is doing what once we’ve all arrived at the accommodation and then split into suitably sized groups.
