Re Outspan School -Northamptonshire Scouts Bwasie project

The project was started up in 1995 when we were asked as a team to promote  this little school in Uganda around Northamptonshire Scout Groups . We made a big impact and raised a substantial amount of funds  to pay for resource materials for the school which was only just beginning to grow. In 1997 Dean Smith took a party  56 Scouts and Leaders for a   three week expedition .I was one of the founder members and  since 1997 I have revisited the school , seen it grow and change enormously. Each time I have taken Scout Leaders or  teachers with me and everyone is changed forever .The school now has around 460 pupils , many of them are  Boarders as this maintains a stable education as they may be orphans. We have given  the school computers, books and other materials . We have seen the wooden shack building being replaced by new solid brick and mortar buildings . Most of the financial support has come from Northamptonshire Scouts. Quite a number of children are sponsored  to go to school by people in Northamptonshire, this costs around £250 a year. Visit the Web site to again more information .It is a very worthwhile project to become involved with re the International Award or Global Challenge
